Gates for hot runner nozzles can be large, while gates that are machined using conventional methods have smaller gates. The cold pockets should be placed in any position facing the hot runner, which is the only way to prevent cold material from entering the molded part through the nozzle.


The inlet, runner, and each nozzle of the hot runner should be separately controlled to balance the various components to the heat sensitive mixture. Adjustment equipment should be used to ensure that the temperature is kept constant (eg PID) during the adaptation of the energy supply.


The hot runner system should be mechanically supported in the same way as the ejector system. The mold is weak at the point close to the flow path and must be compensated as much as possible. Using a separate heating circuit near the hot runner nozzle allows the mold surface temperature to reach the correct set point.


Hot runner and nozzle selection criteria


Flow paths using fully cross-shaped and system-integrated thermal conductors are the best choice. Only a circularly intersecting central heating system can cause excessive pressure loss and should be avoided where possible.


For high thermal materials such as polyoxymethylene and flame retardant grades, the bypass in the flow path should be designed to be as perfect as possible.


The nozzle should be an open external heating system that is completely crisscrossed. The melt should not be divided into several melts in the gate area. The distribution of the feed connections should be adapted to the conditions of the embedding so that an average temperature distribution can be obtained. If it is necessary to use a wear resistant material to make the nozzle tip, an interchangeable nozzle tip can be used, which is an advantage. Also, a small torpedo nozzle tip can be used if desired.
